Travis Knight (Bumblebee) is directing from a script by Chris Butler (ParaNorman), reworked from earlier drafts by David Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and Aaron & Adam Nee (The Lost City).
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the movie is expected to follow a young man who discovers his secret legacy as the prince of an alien planet. He must recover a magic sword and return home to protect his kingdom.
Mattel launched Masters of the Universe with a toy line in 1982 followed by the “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” cartoon from 1983-1985. The franchise now spans multiple animated series, toy lines, comics, video games, and books, along with a 1987 live-action film starring Dolph Lundgren (pictured above).
