"Vancouver, BC" based artist Sainerine combines operatic vocals, experimental synth sound and the ritual of self-mortification carried out with an industrial staple gun. Alongside their zine manifestos "Bloodletting" and "Mutilation Autonomy", Sainerine is a study of the socio-political interpretations of blood, bleeding, and ultimately, body autonomy. Sainerine’s background in classical music and upbringing in the Catholic Church have fueled their critique of institutions, displaying the impact on a body held to an impossible standard.
