Yorlene Bernido is a first-generation Filipino immigrant based on the unceded, traditional territories of the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations in Vancouver. She was nominated for Best Supporting Performer in a Play at the Broadway World Vancouver Awards for her role as Nika in Grandma. Gangsta. Guerrilla. (Ruby Slippers Theatre). Her recent work also includes Catharina Mülhahn in Linck & Mülhahn (Studio 58) and her debut play, Fly, Love, which was featured in Studio 58’s Fourplay festival. Yorlene dedicates her work to uplifting the Filipino community and empowering stories that honour shared identity and interconnectedness.
