Tamzin Merchant (Carnival Row), Edmund Kingsley (T.I.M.), and Raffiella Chapman (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children) have joined the inspired-by-true-events horror The Caged, Deadline reports today.
The Caged begins principal photography next month in the UK.
The film draws from history and follows “a family that is terrorized by a dark presence after they move into a quaint cottage. Uncovering its history, they discover their once dream home lies on the site of a medieval prison set aside for those accused of witchcraft, including England’s most notorious witch, hanged in 1582.”
While that logline doesn’t which witch may have inspired The Caged, the 1582 clue suggests it could, perhaps, draw from Ursula Kemp, a woman who confessed to witchcraft and murder before being hanged. Then again, Essex, England alone
