Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign up via Google OAuth, we receive your name and email from your Google account.
User-Generated Content
We store content you create on the platform, including movie ratings, reviews, comments, watchlist entries, and collection data.
Usage Data
We automatically collect information about how you interact with the platform, including pages visited, features used, and browsing patterns. This data helps us improve the user experience.
Payment Information
If you subscribe to Plus membership, payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or full payment details. Stripe provides us with limited information such as the last four digits of your card and billing status.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and maintain the platform and your account
- To personalize your experience (e.g., Horror DNA profile, recommendations)
- To process Plus membership payments
- To send service-related communications
- To monitor and improve platform performance and stability
- To enforce our Terms of Service and prevent abuse
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may collect or process data:
- Supabase — Database and authentication provider. Stores your account and user-generated content.
- Stripe — Payment processing for Plus memberships.
- PostHog — Product analytics to understand usage patterns and improve the platform.
- Google Analytics — Website traffic and usage analytics.
- Sentry — Error monitoring and performance tracking to identify and fix bugs.
- TMDB — Movie metadata API. No personal user data is shared with TMDB.
- Contentful — Content management for articles and pages. No personal user data is shared with Contentful.
Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing their handling of data.
4. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Maintain your authentication session
- Remember your preferences
- Collect analytics data (via PostHog and Google Analytics)
You can control cookie settings through your browser. Disabling cookies may affect platform functionality, particularly authentication.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data and user-generated content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention).
Analytics data is retained in aggregated, non-personally-identifiable form and is not deleted upon account closure.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — Update or correct inaccurate personal data
- Deletion — Request deletion of your account and personal data
- Export — Request a portable copy of your data
- Opt-out — Opt out of non-essential analytics tracking

7. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication via Supabase, and access controls on our infrastructure. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
Living-Dead is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting a notice on the platform. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
