Coming to theaters this Spring from Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions, the psychological thriller The Surfer from director Lorcan Finnegan (Vivarium, Nocebo) gets an official poster this afternoon, and it brings along with it the promise of a trailer tomorrow, February 26.
While you wait, check out the official poster for The Surfer below. It features rave reviews from websites including Collider, First Showing, and Irish Times, with the review blurbs calling the film “99 minutes of pure sun-beaten terror” and “a paranoid tale of hysteria and craziness.”
In The Surfer, when a man (Nicolas Cage) returns to his beachside hometown in Australia, many years since building a life for himself in the U.S., he is humiliated in front of his teenage son by a local gang of surfers who claim strict ownership over the secluded beach of his childhood.
Wounded, “The Surfer” decides to remain at the beach, declaring war against those in control of the bay. But as the conflict escalates, the stakes spin wildly out of control, taking “The Surfer” to the edge of his sanity.
Julian McMahon, Nic Cassim, Miranda Tapsell, Alexander Bertrand, Justin Rosniak, Rahel Romahn, Finn Little and Charlotte Maggi star alongside Nicolas Cage.
“Lorcan’s movie is a stunning visual experience with an incredible palette, coupled with Nicolas Cage at his absolute best,” Lionsgate’s Lauren Bixby said in a recent statement.
Thomas Martin wrote the screenplay for The Surfer.
