Ahead of the film’s premiere at SXSW (stay tuned for Bloody Disgusting’s coverage!), Variety reports that the close encounter thriller Descendent has been acquired by RLJE Films.
Produced by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Spring, The Endless, Something in the Dirt), Descendent will be released in U.S. theaters by RLJE Films later this year.
The film follows Sean Bruner, a man racked by trauma as the birth of his first child approaches. Discovering a mysterious beam of light during a graveyard shift, Bruner reawakens with visions of extraterrestrials and a slippery sense of reality.
Ross Marquand (“The Walking Dead”) and Sarah Bolger (“Mayans M.C.”) star.
“This film was a labor of love, and I could not be more thrilled to partner with RLJE Films to bring Descendent to SXSW and beyond,” writer and director Peter Cilella said in a statement shared by Variety ahead of SXSW this week. “It truly takes a village to bring a project like this to life, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make it possible.”
