Many of our favorite childhood characters have fallen into the twisted hands of the public domain, with horror movies that take advantage of that fact becoming damn near an entire sub-genre in recent years. From Winnie the Pooh to Mickey Mouse and Peter Pan to Bambi, it seems that no classic character is safe from the horror genre. And now it’s your time, Aladdin.
Bloody Disgusting has learned that B22 Films will be bringing Aladdin into the world of horror with a two-part twisted take featuring upcoming films Aladdin and Aladdin’s Revenge.
We’re told that cameras start rolling in Oklahoma this month, with a 2026 release planned.
The two-part saga centers around a struggling young woman who stumbles upon a magical lamp that offers the ability to grant three wishes – wishes that go horribly wrong…
Aladdin stars scream queen Devanny Pinn and Rob Zombie alumni Billy Blair (Machete, Three From Hell). It’s Written and Directed by Brett Bentman and Produced by Tiffany McDonald and B22 Films. Executive Producers include Stuart Alson and Nicole Holland.
Brett Bentman tells Bloody Disgusting, “This Aladdin is rooted in the ancient tale. It’s the story about wanted things so badly, unaware of the consequences, that these characters just wish for them and from there, things go haywire.” Exclusively check out the teaser poster below.
The classic Disney animated film Aladdin is based on the Arabic folktale from One Thousand and One Nights, a “collection of Middle Eastern folktales compiled in the Arabic language during the Islamic Golden Age.” Much like Pooh and Steamboat Willie, that means Disney can’t come after anyone who wants to do whatever the hell they want with the source material.
