The ever-eclectic Ben Wheatley (Kill List, In the Earth, Meg 2: The Trench) is back with Bulk, his latest genre outing set to premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on August 14, and today brings a trippy new trailer for the experimental sci-fi feature.

Starring Sam Riley (Pride and Predjudice and Zombies) and Alexandra Maria Lara (Control), Bulk's official mind-melding logline, per Empire Magazine, reads as follows:

When an overzealous scientist pushes his experiments with string theory too far – his brane explodes. Thats “brane”, not “brain” – but that means someone has to sort out the mess he has created. Our hero Corey Harlan is sent in – kicking and screaming – to find the heart of the brane and its creator Anton Chambers. Now manifested as a normal town house hosted by the enigmatic and multi-dimensional Aclima, his adventure begins. A house where opening a door from one room to another can lead you to other worlds, not just the kitchen.”

In a previous statement, Wheatley called Bulk a “midnight film through and through”, teasing car chases, gun fights, sci-fi, and romance, among other mindfuck surprises, we're sure.

Bulk is also set to screen a special preview at Bradford Pictureville on August 16, with Wheatley, Riley and Maria Lara in attendance. Check out the new trailer for Bulk below and stay tuned for more!
