Hype is high for HIM, the upcoming sports horror from director Justin Tipping (Kicks) and produced by Get Out and Nope powerhouse Jordan Peele, with the pair today revealing more of what we can expect from what Tipping has described as Friday Night Lights meets Nosferatu.

Starring Tyriq Withers (Atlanta, I Know What You Did Last Summer) and Marlon Wayans (both of whom also drop some delicious soundbites in today's new featurette), HIM follows Cameron Cade, a rising-star quarterback who has devoted his life, and identity, to football:

On the eve of professional football’s annual scouting Combine, Cam is attacked by an unhinged fan and suffers a potentially career-ending brain trauma. Just when all seems lost, Cam receives a lifeline when his hero, Isaiah White (Wayans), a legendary eight-time Championship quarterback and cultural megastar, offers to train Cam at Isaiah’s isolated compound that he shares with his celebrity influencer wife, Elsie White.

But as Cam’s training accelerates, Isaiah’s charisma begins to curdle into something darker, sending his protégé down a disorienting rabbit hole that may cost him more than he ever bargained for.

Co-written by Tipping and Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie (creators of the sci-fi crime series Limetown), HIM also stars Julia Fox (Uncut Gems), Tim Heidecker (Us) , Jim Jefferies (The Jim Jefferies Show), MMA heavyweight fighter Maurice Greene, Grammy nominee Tierra Whack and rapper Guapdad 4000.

Alongside Peele for Monkeypaw Productions, HIM is produced by Ian Cooper (Nope, Us), Win Rosenfeld (Candyman, Lovecraft Country) and Jamal M. Watson (Hala, Sprinter) for Monkeypaw Productions and is executive produced by David Kern and Monkeypaw’s Kate Oh.

In today's new feature from Universal, Peele teases that the movie goes to some “really terrifying places”, with Wayans promising that we've never seen a sport movie like this before (and we don't doubt him for a second!)

HIM releases in theaters on September 19. Check out the new look below, as well as a new poster:
