Top Horror Movies Streaming This Week

Big changes have come to this week's top horror movies on streaming list. From out of nowhere, all but one of the movies are new to the list or are returning favorites that haven't been on the list in a while. Okay, maybe it wasn't entirely from out of nowhere, but many movies that you may have come to expect to see here are gone. There's nothing like some new blood.

The biggest trend is that no less than four films from the acclaimed Alien series have landed in the top ten. There's a good reason for this mix of the original, sequels, and prequels, which is the release of the franchise's newest addition, the FX TV series, Alien: Earth, on August 12. Hulu wisely added all of the Alien films, including Alien 3, Alien: Resurrection, Prometheus, Alien vs Predator, and Alien vs Predator: Requiem to its roster this month in anticipation of fans wanting to experience their favorites or catch up with films they hadn't seen yet. Great idea.

But the emergence of Gore Verbinski's A Cure For Wellness is something that no one expected. The film has been added to Cinemax's streaming service and has made a big impression. The one film that remains on this week's list of Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later, which was finally released to digital in late 2024, and also has a 4K UHD steelbook release on the horizon.
