SHIN GODZILLA Stomps Onto 4K UHD With Deluxe Collector’s Edition

Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi's kaiju epic Shin Godzilla is stomping onto 4K UHD with a stacked Deluxe Collector's Edition physical media release from Toho that includes the black and white Shin Godzilla: ORTHOchromatic cut.
Released in 2016, Shin Godzilla stars Hiroki Hasegawa, Yutaka Takenouchi and Satomi Ishihara, with a supporting cast including Japanese genre mainstays Shin'ya Tsukamoto and Jun Kunimura, as politicians dealing with the bureaucratic red tape that comes along with a giant monster appearing off the coast of Tokyo. Upon release, Shin Godzilla grossed $79 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing Japanese-produced Godzilla film in the franchise’s history until Takashi Yamazaki's Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One came along in 2023.
The new Collector's Edition set, which ships in October, comes with a host of special features including deleted scenes, outtakes and a special booklet translated directly from the Japanese version of the release. Super kaiju collectors can also upgrade to the Ultimate Collector's Edition which includes the 4K UHD + Blu-ray set and an exclusive purple “Doomed” t-shirt.
The new 4K restoration of Shin Godzilla is currently playing across U.S. theaters, coinciding with the exciting news also recently dropping that a sequel is potentially in the works at Toho.
