Zach Cregger’s WEAPONS Is A $200 Million Box Office Smash Hit
New Line’s latest is now one of the biggest horror movies of 2025.

Summer 2025 is ending on a bit of a low note at the box office overall thanks to a lack of major releases in August. Be that as it may, horror is doing its part to carry the load as director Zach Cregger’s Weapons is continuing its hot streak. The acclaimed film, after three weekends, has passed a major milestone, crossing the $200 million mark globally as of today.

This past weekend, New Line’s Weapons pulled in an estimated $15.6 million domestically on its third weekend. That was good enough for second place, as Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters pulled a surprise victory with $18 million. In any event, Cregger’s follow-up to 2022’s Barbarian has now made $115.8 million domestically to go with $83.5 million overseas for a running total of $199.3 million through Sunday. By the end of this sentence, it will have passed $200 million worldwide against an over/under $40 million budget.
The film takes place after all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanishes on the same night at precisely the same time. This leaves the surrounding community to question who – or what – is behind their disappearance. The cast includes Julia Garner (Ozark), Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men), Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange), Alden Ehrenreich (Ironheart), Amy Madigan (Streets of Fire) and Austin Abrams (Euphoria).
That makes it easily one of the biggest horror movies of 2025 thus far,
