MAGIC: Sam Raimi Producing Remake Of 1978 Ventriloquist Horror For Lionsgate

Evil Dead legend Sam Raimi and Barbarian and Weapons producer Roy Lee are set to produce a remake of 1978 puppet horror movie Magic for Lionsgate,
Mark Swift and Damian Shannon (Freddy vs. Jason, Send Help) are on board for screenplay duties, with no news on a director just yet.
Directed by the late Richard Attenborough and based on the novel by William Goldman, the original Magic starred Anthony Hopkins as professional ventriloquist Charles “Corky” Withers, who makes it big in professional magic thanks to the help of his foul-mouthed dummy Fats (also voiced by Hopkins), who Corky cannot control. Ann-Margaret, Burgess Meredith and Ed Lauter also starred.
An official press release notes that Chris Hammond and Tim Sullivan will also produce, with Meredith Wieck and Pavan Kalidindi overseeing the project for Lionsgate.
That's all we know about the Magic remake for now but stay tuned for updates, and place your bets on who will take up the director's mantle for this one. James Wan, you free?
