THE SWALLOW: STRANGER THINGS’ Grace Van Dien Joins STARRY EYES Directors For Backwoods Horror

Starry Eyes and Pet Sematary (2019) directors Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer return with The Swallow, an upcoming backwoods horror starring Stranger Things‘ Grace Van Dien.
According to Deadline, who also revealed a first look at the film earlier today (seen below), The Swallow has recently wrapped principal photography in Oregon, with no news of a release date just yet.
Van Dien, who had a brief but memorable stay as Chrissy Cunningham in Stranger Things‘ fourth season, plays Ziggy, who, along with her four friends, journeys out on a camping trip to a picturesque remote forest:
But trespassing into an off-limits area, they awaken an uncanny terror in the woods… and a ravenous hunger from within the Earth. Soon, the ground itself is trying to swallow anything and anyone it touches and now the group have nowhere to run as every step they take could be their last.
Also starring are Jack Wright (A Bloody Night), Tayler Buck (Annabelle: Creation), Kalama Epstein (The Fabelmans), and Kayla DiVenere (Love, Victor series).
Written and directed by Kölsch and Widmyer, The Swallow is produced by James Harris (47 Meters Down), Josh Goldbloom (V/H/S franchise) and John Finemore (Watcher). Also behind the scenes is veteran SFX supervisor Tony Gardner (The Blob, Freaked), who will bring to life the aforementioned terror lurking in the woods.
Here's what Kölsch and Widmyer had to say in a new statement:
“The Swallow is a tonal throwback to the type of horror that made us excited about this genre in the first place. Something pure, visceral and absolutely harrowing. Our hope is that it will make you never look at the ground the same way again.”
Look out for more on The Swallow as we get it.
