Could a fourth season of HANNIBAL be closer than we think...?

A Bryan Fuller/Mads Mikkelsen reunion is on the horizon with Dust Bunny, so naturally conversation has turned to the topic of a potential comeback for NBC's Hannibal.

Initially airing between 2013 and 2015, and based on the series of novels by Thomas Harris, Fuller's gory series ended in a bloody cliffhanger as Mikkelsen's Hannibal and Hugh Dancy's Will Graham took a tumble off a cliff after a grisly showdown with the Tooth Fairy killer Francis Dolarhyde (played by Richard Armitage). Unfortunately, the fate of the pair was never revealed, as NBC cancelled the show despite raucous fanfare, and due to various rights issues between Netflix and Amazon, the series has yet to be revived, despite official conversations going on behind the scenes since 2017.

We already know that Mikkelsen and Dancy are fully onboard to come back, and in a new interview with ScreenRant, Fuller has detailed that he's also down for a fourth season that would adapt perhaps the most famous Dr. Lecter outing, The Silence of the Lambs. Adapted for the big screen in 1991, Jonathan Demme's Silence of the Lambs starred Anthony Hopkins as the maniacal cannibal and Jodie Foster as smart and savvy FBI trainee Clarice Starling. Fans have long speculated over who would play Starling should Fuller ever get to put his vision of Silence of the Lambs to screen – and now we have an answer from the man himself:

My dream project is to do a limited series of Silence of the Lambs with Mads and Zendaya as Clarice Starling. If I could put anything out into the universe, I would put that into the universe.

While Zendaya, of Dune and Challengers fame, may not seem like an obvious choice as she's never really dabbled in horror before (and, yes, The Silence of the Lambs is a horror movie!), she's undoubtedly got the skills to bring the character of Clarice to life. Honestly, Fuller could cast a potato as Starling and if it meant more Hannibal we'd be there – but Zendaya would be extra icing on the cake. Watch this space for more on any crumbs of Hannibal news as we get 'em.
