Hope, the upcoming sci-fi action thriller from The Wailing director Na Hong-jin, gets a new poster and first-look image today courtesy of Deadline.

Starring Hwang Jung-min (The Wailing), Zo In-sung (Moving), Jung Ho-yeon (Squid Game), Michael Fassbender (Prometheus, The Killer), Alicia Vikander (Ex MachinaThe Green Knight), Taylor Russell (Bones and All) and Cameron Britton (Mindhunter), Hope is set in the remote village of Hope Harbor, near the heavily fortified Demilitarized Zone (DMZ):

When a tiger is suspected to have appeared and local police chief Bum-seok (Hwang) is alerted, it throws the community into chaos. What begins as a local emergency soon spirals into a deeper, more terrifying mystery, one that forces the town’s residents to confront the unknown.

According to Deadline, today's first poster depicts “a moment in the depths of the forest as a rider on a galloping horse seizes a young man by the collar, saving him just as he is pursued by an alien threat.” The alien threats in question are played by Vikander and Fassbender.

Hope marks Na's first feature since the terrifying Korean folk horror The Wailing from 2016,  and since his role co-writing and producing 2021 Thai horror mockumentary The Medium.

While a release date for Hope hasn't yet been set, Deadline confirms that the genre-bender is slated for a summer 2026 release, with international sales handled by Plus M Entertainment and UTA Independent Film Group representing North America. Check out the new first look image below and stay tuned for updates.
