Brandon Perea, breakout of Jordan Peele's 2022 sci-fi horror Nope, has been cast as the male lead in Blumhouse’s Insidious 6,  currently set for release on August 21, 2026.

Perea (most recently seen in A Big Bold Beautiful Journey) joins previously announced stars Maisie Richardson-Sellers (Nine Perfect Strangers 2), Sam Spruell (Legend) and Island Austin (I Can Only Imagine 2), Amelie Eve (The Exorcist) and the legendary Lin Shaye as Insidious mainstay psychic medium Elise Rainier.

Directed by Jacob Chase (Come Play) from a screenplay he co-wrote with David Leslie Johnson (The Conjuring 2, Orphan), Sony Screen Gems and Stage 6 Films' Insidious 6 is currently shooting in Australia. Plot and character details remain under wraps, but it's safe to assume Insidious 6 will follow a new set of central characters, as Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne's Lambert family, who were the focus of three of the five films in the series, wrapped up their ordeal with the Further in 2023's Insidious: The Red Door (or so we think).

Since the James Wan-directed and Leigh Whannell-written first entry back in 2010, the Insidious franchise remains a big money-maker at the box office, with all five movies totaling $740M worldwide and The Red Door  taking home $190M worldwide alone. For the sixth entry in the series, Jason Blum is back in a producing role, along with Oren Peli, Wan, and Whannell, with executive producers Ryan Turek, Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Leslie Johnson.

Look out for more on Insidious 6 as we get it. For more, here's how The Conjuring: Last Rites, the final entry in the other James Wan-created blockbuster horror franchise, is beating the box office.
