In addition to showing off the newest trailer for OD, Hideo Kojima also announced during the Beyond the Strand livestream early this morning another major project in the form of a Death Stranding anime. Tentatively titled Death Stranding Mosquito, this is an animated film set in the series’ post-apocalyptic world.
Other than the teaser released during the livestream, not much else is known about Death Stranding Mosquito, or whether we’ll be seeing Norman Reedus in some capacity. The film is being directed by Hiroshi Miyamoto, whose work previously includes 3D character design for a couple of Dragon Ball Z specials and Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, but does have directing credits for films like Eiga Precure Dream Stars.
Meanwhile, the script will be handled by Aaron Guzikowski, who previously wrote Denis Villeneuve‘s Prisoners, and was also involved in writing the Friday the 13th reboot at Paramount back in 2015, before that project was ultimately canned.
