Finnish-folklore inspired horror Love Is The Monster, from director Alex Noyer (Sound of Violence), is set to have its World Premiere at Los Angeles' Screamfest on October 13 via You Know Films and Genco Pictures, in partnership with Raven Banner Entertainment, and we've got the exclusive trailer to celebrate.

Written and directed by Noyer and co-written by Hannua Aukia and Blair Bathory, Love is the Monster stars Madeline Zima (Californication), Leonardo Nam (Westworld) and Tatu Sinisalo (Sisu), and follows a troubled couple who head to Finland for a transformative retreat, where they fall prey to a sinister cult seeking to resurrect an ancient goddess of love.

Kimberly Sue-Murray (The Boys),  Moe Jeudy-Lamour (Ted Lasso), Kristina Tonteri-Young (Warrior Nun), Milla Puolakanaho (Attack on Helsinki), and Sheila McCarthy (Women Talking) also star.

Here's what Noyer had to say of the film's Screamfest premiere at Los Angeles' Chinese Theater later this month:

“LA has been my home for the last 11 years and premiering my new film here means so much. I'm delighted to kick off our festival tour at LA’s legendary Screamfest and to take the fest’s awesome audience on this trippy journey into Finnish mythology and a very peculiar type of couples therapy.”

Producer Laurence Gendron (A Wounded Fawn), who produces alongside Noyer and Aukia, adds:

“Screamfest is an iconic festival that consistently showcases the most daring and thrilling genre films year after year, and we’re thrilled for LOVE IS THE MONSTER to have its World Premiere here […] Alex Noyer has created a wild tale rooted in Finnish mythology. As a frequent collaborator, I am continuously amazed by his ability to blend unique cinematography, deep human emotions and true horror into such a unique vision.”
