Slasher fans have been waiting the better part of a decade for Creep 3. The good news is that Peachfuzz has returned elsewhere, namely Shudder, as Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice have reunited for The Creep Tapes, with streamer bringing the show back for a second season this fall. Not only that, but the series will offer up a small taste of what viewers might have received in the long-awaited third movie.

Fango’s own Angel Melanson had the chance to speak with Duplass and Brice following the premiere of The Creep Tapes season 2 at Fantastic Fest. During the conversation, Brice and Duplass were discussing the sheer endless possibilities for the character offered up by the show, which is more of an anthology that chronicles a different victim each time. As Brice revealed, the duo folded some of the ideas they had for Creep 3 into the show. Per Brice…

“We have overflow for season one and two. There’s a Google Doc, a very sacred Google Doc, that gets passed back and forth between Mark and I that has kind of endless ideas at this point. Some of those were ideas that we had for Creep 3 that ended up in episodes of The Creep Tapes.”

“It really was something we sort of discovered after we started making this, we have the latitude to make this thing last forever,” Duplass added. “It’s the perfect recipe for, ideally, a Seinfeld-level number of episodes.”

Whether or not the show runs that long remains to be seen but it’s also important to point out that this doesn’t mean they’re not going to make Creep 3. The show just allowed them to explore many more of these ideas using the shorter form format. They can, in theory, reserve a bigger idea befitting a feature film.

As for season 2 of the show, it features a murderer’s row of talent including David Dastmalchian (Late Night With the Devil), Robert Longstreet (Midnight Mass), Katie Aselton (Synchronic), Diego Josef (Animal Kingdom), Desean Terry (The Morning Show), Alec Bewkes, Linas Phillips (Spree), Taylor Garron (Abbott Elementary), Timm Sharp (M3GAN 2.0) and Jeff Man (Creep 2). The synopsis for the second season reads as follows:

“Season two will continue to unravel the mind of this secluded serial killer (Duplass) who lures videographers into his world with the promise of a paid job documenting his life. Unfortunately, as the tape rolls, the killer’s questionable intentions surface with his increasingly odd behavior and the victims will learn they may have made a deadly mistake.”

Fans can also get more from Duplass about The Creep Tapes season 2 in FANGORIA #29, which is out now. The show is produced by Duplass Brothers Productions and Shudder. Duplass and Patrick Brice serve as executive producers alongside Mel Eslyn, Jay Duplass and Chris Donlon, with Shuli Harel serving as co-executive producer. Brice directed all of the episodes of the new season.

The Creep Tapes season 2 premieres November 14 on Shudder. You can check out our full interview with Duplass and Brice below.
