THE HOLY BOY & EVERY HEAVY THING Top Brooklyn Horror Film Festival Jury Award Winners

This year’s Brooklyn Horror Film Festival will soon be coming to a close, and that means it’s time for their annual jury awards! Split into three categories — Dark Matter, Head Trip, and Shorts — the awards honor the best at the fest, spanning from awards for best feature and performance to below the title categories like cinematography and special effects. 

The Dark Matter category, juried by Greg Newman, Alison Foreman, and our very own Kimberly Leszak, is led by Don’t Leave the Kids Alone, which won Best Feature, and Paolo Strippoli winning Best Director for The Holy Boy. Other award winners include Olivia Taylor Dudley earning Best Performance for Abigail Before Beatrice, Aleksandar Radivojevic winning Best Screenplay for Karmadonna, Cristiano Di Nicola winning Best Cinematography for The Holy Boy, and Mio Chiba and Tokihiko Endo winning Best Practical Effects for Incomplete Chairs. 

Juried by James-Michael Fleites, Justin LaLiberty, and Gigi Murakami, the Head Trips section awarded Best Feature to Every Heavy Thing, and Best Director to Yûta Shimotsu for New Group, as well as Best Performance to Tipper Newton for Every Heavy Thing.
