David Howard Thornton will forever be associated with killer clown Art the Clown in the Terrifier franchise, but up next he’s bringing a whole different kind of sadistic clown to life.
Bloody Disgusting has learned that David Howard Thornton will play a clown named Long Nail Nelly in the upcoming genre movie Hollywoods, and we’ve got an exclusive first look!
The producer tells BD, “The film plays as a meta riff on horror and performance, opening with Thornton in this new role before spiraling into its larger story. We believe Long Nail Nelly has the makings of a cult villain, and this is the first time he’s being revealed.”

From the Executive Producers of Screamboat, Jason Schnell and Tommy Savas of Reckless Content, along with Don’t Panic Pictures, Hollywoods is a stylish, blood-soaked descent into the dark side of fame. The film is produced by Kelly May and directed by Serena Reynolds.
In Hollywoods, a group of young women are invited to an isolated acting retreat by a mysterious industry figure promising to help them achieve their dreams of stardom.
But as they settle into the remote compound, their ambitions soon curdle into fear, as it becomes clear this is where dreams go to die, not come true.
David Howard Thornton said in a statement shared with BD, “I had a blast playing such a demented character! Can’t wait for the fans to see it- and hear me speak for once!”
“David brought this wild, theatrical energy to Hollywoods,” says Kelly May. “He’s part Beetlejuice, part Pennywise, part Mad Hatter- it’s something no one’s ever seen from him before.”
With its blend of biting satire and brutal terror, Hollywoods aims to deliver a twisted homage to the dreams — and nightmares — that define the entertainment industry. The film has completed post-production and is currently available for domestic and international distribution.
