Yep, you heard us – the best horror performance of 2025, and the movie it's found in, has officially set a Shudder release date, with Ben Leonberg's Good Boy hitting the streamer on November 21.

In Leonberg's feature debut, co-written with Alex Cannon, Indy, Leonberg's own beautiful, 35-pound Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever,  stars as the titular good boy, a sweet pup who moves with his owner Todd to a long-vacant family home in the country:

From the start, two things are abundantly clear: Indy is wary of the creepy old house, and his affection for Todd is unwavering. After moving in, Indy is immediately vexed by empty corners, tracks an invisible presence only he can see, perceives phantasmagoric warnings from a long-dead dog, and is haunted by visions of the previous occupant’s grim death. When Todd begins succumbing to the dark forces swirling around the house, Indy must battle a malevolence intent on dragging his beloved Todd into the afterlife.

Also starring alongside Indy in his first ever acting role (hopefully of many more) are horror legend Larry Fessenden, Shane Jensen and Arielle Friedman.

Following a hugely successful festival run (including a sold-out showing at SXSW), Good Boy fetched a tidy sum at the box office upon release earlier this year, now ranking as Independent Film Company’s third-biggest opening ever behind this year’s Clown in a Cornfield ($3.6 million) and 2024’s Late Night With the Devil ($2.8 million).

Don't miss Good Boy when it hits Shudder on November 21, and find out what makes Indy so very special.
