It looks like Scary Movie 6 is going to be a family affair. Deadline reports that, in addition to brothers Marlon and Shawn Wayans leading the charge for the new movie in the popular horror spoof franchise, they’ll be joined by their sister Kim Wayans and nephew Damon Wayans Jr., who just boarded the film alongside some other familiar faces.

Also joining the film is SNL alum Heidi Gardner, as well as two Scary Movie alumni: Cheri Oteri, who appeared in the original film, and Chris Elliott, who featured in both Scary Movie 2 and Scary Movie 4. They join a cast that already includes franchise favorites Regina Hall, Anna Faris, Lochlyn Monroe, Dave Sheridan, and Jon Abrahams, and new faces in the form of Olivia Rose Keegan, Savannah Lee Nassif, Cameron Scott Roberts, Sydney Park, Gregg Wayans, Ruby Snowber, and Benny Zielke.

It’s unknown as of yet what form the new film will take, though it will presumably spoof popular horror films of the last several years, as the franchise is known for. (There’s even an opportunity for Oteri to reprise her role as Gail Halstorm, a parody of Courteney Cox’s Scream character, given the recent reboots of that franchise.) Marlon and Shawn Wayans wrote the script for the film, which is currently shooting, with fellow Scary Movie collaborators Keenen Ivory Wayans and Rick Alvarez, with Michael Tiddes directing.

Scary Movie 6 is produced by Alvarez, Jonathan Glickman, Alexandra Loewy, and Thom Zadra. The film will be the first in the popular comedy franchise in thirteen years, after the box office failure of Scary Movie 5 in 2013, and the first to feature both Faris and Hall since 2006’s Scary Movie 4

Scary Movie 6 hits theaters on June 12, 2026.
