Tina Romero’s Queens of the Dead put a proudly queer twist on the George A. Romero zombie movie, and the upcoming horror-comedy Zombois is primed and ready to do the same.
Deadline reports that Daria Berenato (former WWE star Sonya Deville) will star alongside Tuc Watkins (The Mummy), Thomas Dekker (Heroes), Brenna D’Amico (Descendants), Adam Huss (Power) and Aaron Goldenberg in Zombois from director Garrett Abdo.
In Zombois, “a group of college seniors on break in the North Georgia Mountains who discover a guarded secret and a contagion that turns their getaway into a brutal battle for survival.”
“My last film, Exit Interviews, was deeply dramatic emotional therapy so I wanted to follow it up with something totally on the opposite end of the spectrum – something fun and outrageous, so gay zombies felt like it fit the mold,” previews writer-director Garrett Abdo.
Star Tuc Watkins adds in a statement of his own, “Sexy, scary, and laugh-out-loud funny, Zombois is going to be one hell of a ride. I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
