Some places never let go. Return to Silent Hill will bring audiences back into the fog just in time for the 20th anniversary of the 2006 film, and Variety has unveiled the first international trailer.
Return to Silent Hill releases in theaters January 23, 2026, from Cineverse & Bloody Disgusting.
The upcoming movie brings the iconic horror franchise back to the big screen. When James receives a mysterious letter from his lost love, Mary, he is drawn to Silent Hill—a once-familiar town now consumed by darkness. As he searches for her, James faces monstrous creatures and unravels a terrifying truth that will push him to the edge of his sanity.
Jeremy Irvine is James, alongside Hannah Emily Anderson as Mary Crane and Evie Templeton (Wednesday) as Laura. Templeton reprises her role from Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake.
Returning director Christophe Gans, who helmed the 2006 feature film adaptation of Silent Hill, wrote the script for the new movie alongside Sandra Vo-Anh and William Josef Schneider.
“I hope audiences will enjoy the thrill of journeying through a place that is not only a physical trap one has to survive, but also a mirror that exposes one’s own shortcomings and fears,” Gans told Variety. “It’s a twisted and emotional ride through hell and back to save someone you love, all while having to face your own inner demons.”
Also returning is franchise mainstay Akira Yamaoka, who provides the score. The legendary composer scored and provided the memorable sound design for the original video games in Konami’s franchise.
