Dorothy was just the beginning in Gale: Yellow Brick Road, a haunting reimagining of L. Frank Baum‘s original Wizard of Oz novels.
We have your exclusive first look at the mysterious poster by Creepy Duck Design below, along with new details on the release.
The indie horror fantasy will have a one-night-only theatrical engagement on February 11, 2026 from Chilling Films and Fathom Entertainment.
Screenings will be accompanied by a five-minute making-of featurette exploring the reimagined Oz and its characters — some of whom have never appeared in live-action before — along with behind-the-scenes footage of the cast transforming into their roles.
Dark, atmospheric, and emotionally charged, Gale: Yellow Brick Road fuses psychological horror with mythic fantasy, charting a harrowing descent into madness, memory, and the shattered remnants of a road once paved in yellow bricks.
It follows Emily Gale, Dorothy’s granddaughter, a quiet young woman tormented by visions, disjointed dreams, and an unshakable sense that reality itself is unraveling.
As these disturbances mount, she is drawn toward a shadow world-a dark and magical realm that should not exist. Through chilling encounters and surreal revelations, Emily stumbles into the long-buried legacy of Oz-now a place of ruin, tragedy, and unspeakable horrors.
Daniel Alexander makes his feature directorial debut from a script by Matthew R. Ford, expanding on their 2023 short Gale: Stay Away from Oz.
Chloë Crump stars as Emily Gale with Karen Swan as Dorothy. Laura Kay Bailey, Sarah Feltham, and Hariet Isidor round out the cast.
“125 years ago, L. Frank Baum introduced the world to Dorothy Gale and the mysterious land of Oz, changing storytelling forever,” said executive producer Dane Petrali of Chilling Films. “With deep respect for the original source material, Chilling Films is proud to present a darker, new vision of that world with Gale: Yellow Brick Road.”
Petrali continues, “In this film, we twist familiar faces, reimagine nostalgic elements, and introduce new characters that we believe audiences will grow to love. Gale: Yellow Brick Road is dark, thrilling, and heartfelt. Chilling is excited to share the first chapter of this story with the world.”
“Horror and fantasy remain amongst the most popular genre of Fathom theatrical engagements and moviegoers nationwide, and Gale: Yellow Brick Road caters to both sets of fans in a big way,” added Fathom CEO Ray Nutt. “Dark, disturbing and eerily compelling, Gale: Yellow Brick Road is a unique and compelling moviegoing experience fans will want to catch in theaters on February 11.”
Tickets for Gale: Yellow Brick Road go sale on January 8 at Fathom Entertainment and participating theater box offices.
