The Adams Family Summons The MOTHER OF FLIES In First Trailer For New Haunted Fairy Tale

With the year wrapping up, it’s time to start looking at what 2026 is offering us when it comes to horror — and it’s already looking like a promising year. Shudder is filling out their slate for the beginning of the year, and they’re starting with Mother of Flies, which hits the platform next month and just dropped its first trailer.
Mother of Flies is the latest project from The Adams Family, the filmmaking family consisting of John Adams, Toby Poser, and their daughters Lulu and Zelda, who write, star in, direct, and edit all of their films themselves. Also starring Noble Wilson-Eiden and Jessica Beveridge, Mother of Flies also features music by the family’s band H6LLB6ND6R. The film’s synopsis is as follows:
Mickey (Zelda Adams) faces a deadly diagnosis, but she isn’t ready to die yet. Heading into the woods with her father (John Adams), she seeks dark magic at the hands of mysterious recluse, Solveig (Toby Poser) , who has an intimate relationship with death and roots that go deep in the land. For three days, Mickey endures Solveig’s extreme rituals of death magic. But every cure has its cost, and every curse is another’s gift. As buried secrets claw their way to the surface, the veil between the living and the dead begins to unravel, and Mickey finds herself facing dark truths that only the dead and the dying can know.
Mother of Flies is the Adams Family’s eighth film together, after starting Wonder Wheel Productions in 2010 and making films like Rumblestrips, Knuckle Jack, The Deeper You Dig, and Where the Devil Roams. The new film won the Cheval Noir Award for Best Film at this year’s Fantasia International Film Festival, making it the first American film to do so in the festival’s history, and marking it as a perfect addition to Shudder’s ever-expanding catalogue.
Mother of Flies premieres on Shudder on January 23, 2026. Check out the trailer below:
