Julia Ducournau’s ALPHA Looks Like A Real Heartbreaker

Following last week's announcement of an official release date of March 27, 2026, NEON has dropped a new trailer for Alpha, the third feature from Palme d'Or winner Julia Ducournau (Raw, Titane).
Starring Mélissa Boros, Tahar Rahim (The Serpent, The Mauritanian), Golshifteh Farahani (The Patience Stone, Extraction) and Emma Mackey (Sex Education, Emma), the body horror-drama follows the titular, troubled 13-year-old who lives with her single mom whose world collapses the day she returns from school with a tattoo on her arm while a mysterious virus that turns bodies into marble is plaguing society.
Despite a divisive reaction following its Cannes premiere, Alpha has proved a hit on the festival scene across Europe, showing at Sitges, BFI London Film Festival, Celluloid Screams, Leeds International Film Festival and more. Billed as Ducournau's most personal film yet, Alpha is influenced by the director's experience growing up during the AIDS epidemic of the '80s and '90s, and from today's new trailer it looks like we're in for a real heartbreaker.
Check out the new trailer for Alpha below, and for more, here's all the monster movies we're looking forward to in 2026.
