The first poster for The Death of Robin Hood vows that Hugh Jackman‘s portrayal of legendary character isn’t the hero that’s been glorified by folklore.
Check back tomorrow for the first trailer, which is likely to be accompanied by a release date from A24.
Shot on 35mm film, the dark reimagining of the classic tale is written and directed by Michael Sarnoski (A Quiet Place: Day One, Pig).
Jodie Comer (28 Years Later), Bill Skarsgård (IT), Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus), and Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place) round out the cast.
In the period piece, grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder, Robin Hood finds himself gravely injured after a battle he thought would be his last. In the hands of a mysterious woman, he is offered a chance at salvation.
“[Robin Hood] was this murderous outlaw who did a lot of terrible things, and was kind of monstrous. But he’s lived long enough to see this folklore get created about him,” Sarnoski previously stated. “He’s figuring out how he feels about that, about being portrayed as a hero when he knows what he really was.”
Aaron Ryder & Andrew Swett of Ryder Picture Company produce alongside Alexander Black of Lyrical Media. Executive producers include Jackman, Sarnoski, Jon Rosenberg, Natalie Sellers, and Rama Gottumukkala.
