We have our first look at ‘Pretty Lethal,’ a new ballet slasher starring Uma Thurman premiering at this year’s SXSW.
Exciting news out of the upcoming SXSW Festival. Amazon and MGM Studios’ Pretty Lethal, from filmmaker Vicky Jewson, will premiere at the fest with an anticipated release on Prime Video starting March 26. Check out some first look stills below:
Director Vicky Jewson remarked, “In Pretty Lethal, I wanted to bring the highly specific skillset of a ballerina to the action space. We created a world built on the broken dreams of a dancer, played by the iconic Uma Thurman. This world and our incredible young cast gave me the freedom to swing between horror, comedy and action to create a breathless rollercoaster ride. The troupe embraces teamwork, sisterhood and ballet-fu in order to stay alive. Dance like your life depends on it!”
Pretty Lethal sees a group of ballet dancers en route to a competition run afoul of a reclusive prodigy living in the woods when their bus breaks down. Uma Thurman, Maddie Ziegler (yo, Dance Moms fam), Lana Condor, Iris Apatow, Avantika, and Millicent Simmonds star. Stay tuned to Dread Central for more SXSW premiere announcements and dates.
