It should have stayed asleep.
I’ve been hyped on Mathieu Turi‘s (Meander) French creature feature The Deep Dark for years now, and, unfortunately, after seeing it a few years ago at Fantastic Fest, it’s just okay.
It’s since been reworked and is finally getting released on VOD in the US and UK on March 24 via 4Digital Media.
Set in 1950s France, a team of miners is forced to escort a professor underground in the name of research. But when a landslide prevents them from going back up, they discover a crypt from another time, unknowingly waking a bloodthirsty creature.
It’s very The Descent with some killer creature effects and is probably worth a rental.
