Christian Bale shares thoughts on the upcoming ‘American Psycho’ movie from Luca Guadagnino and the actors who could play Patrick Bateman.
Christian Bale has weighed in on the upcoming new take on American Psycho, and the actor seems supportive of the bold move.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter at the premiere of his upcoming film THE BRIDE!, Bale was asked about the planned adaptation from director Luca Guadagnino. Bale famously played the serial killer investment banker Patrick Bateman in director Mary Harron’s 2000 film, a performance that remains one of the most iconic in modern horror.
“Whoever wants to give it a shot, give it a pop,” Bale said. “I loved making it with Mary Harron so many years back. Fantastic memories of it all. Bold choice of anyone to try to do it… I don’t know if they’re doing a remake or what. But all the best to ’em. I like brave people.”
The upcoming film from Guadagnino will not be a remake of the 2000 movie. Instead, it’s expected to be a fresh adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ 1991 novel. The screenplay is being written by Scott Z. Burns.
So far, no actor has been cast as the new Patrick Bateman, leaving fans to speculate about who might step into the blood-soaked role. Dread Central previously reported on the situation, with several A-List actors having allegedly already turned down the controversial reboot.
The original American Psycho remains a cult classic, blending pitch-black satire with slasher elements and delivering one of Bale’s most unforgettable performances.
