Scream 7 writer/director Kevin Williamson has turned his eyes towards his next project, a TV series set in the world of the Universal monsters
Scream 7 is currently cutting up the competition in theaters. That means that writer/director Kevin Williamson can now turn his attention to other projects. What’s next for the filmmaker? Oh, just writing a TV series based in the world of the Universal Monsters! NO BIG DEAL.
While discussing the latest Scream sequel in an interview with Esquire, Williamson was asked about what project he’s working on now. “Netflix and Universal were very kind to let me go direct Scream 7 and put some projects on hold, and now I’m focused on those. The one I’m writing right now is a show. You might call it an adult ‘Vampire Diaries’. It’s based in the Universal monster land. I get to play with some of those characters like Dracula and Frankenstein and the Wolf Man and have fun there.”
Adult “Vampire Diaries” set in the world of Universal Monsters and written by Kevin Williamson? Pinch me, I’m dreaming.
Not only was Williamson responsible for writing/creating “Vampire Diaries”, but he also created the highly successful “Dawson’s Creek”. So, he clearly has an understanding of how to deliver gripping TV dramas. Not to mention his horror film accolades.
Imagine chase scenes between the likes of Van Helsing and the Wolf Man penned by Williamson? The dramatic twists and turns from the man who has made a living off of such things in his films? The monster kid in me is practically weeping with the promise of it all.
We don’t have any other plot details at this time, but you can bet we’re keeping eyes on this one like Dracula staring down his victims.
For now, you can watch Williamson’s Scream 7 in theaters.
