Mike Flanagan likes to work with the same actors in his projects, and nothing has changed with his take on The Exorcist.
The director has added 11 longtime collaborators to the cast of his untitled new Exorcist movie, Deadline has learned: Rahul Kohli, Hamish Linklater, Gil Bellows, Carl Lumbly, Robert Longstreet, Matt Biedel, Samantha Sloyan, Kate Siegel, John Gallagher Jr., Benjamin Pajak, and Carla Gugino.
The site notes that many of these 11 were featured in Flanagan’s Netflix miniseries Midnight Mass and The Fall of the House of Usher, with assorted members also appearing in the likes of Oculus, Hush, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Gerald’s Game, The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, The Midnight Club, and The Life of Chuck.
What’s known about the film, shooting in New York City, is that it will tell an all-new story set in The Exorcist universe and is not a sequel to 2023’s The Exorcist: Believer. As previously announced, the cast also includes Scarlett Johansson, Jacobi Jupe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne, John Leguizamo, Sasha Calle, and Diane Lane.
Character details for all new cast members are under wraps, as is the plot of the new Exorcist, which Universal is set to release in theaters on Friday, March 12, 2027.
