For more than two decades, filmmakers behind the Predator franchise have tried to lure Arnold Schwarzenegger back to the series that helped define one of his most iconic roles.
Earlier attempts to bring Schwarzenegger back to Predator failed, first because he was serving as California’s governor during the Alien vs. Predator era, and later because he declined The Predator. He finally revisited Dutch in the 2020s through the video game Predator: Hunting Grounds, with the character also appearing in a post-credits scene in Hulu’s anthology film, Predator: Killer of Killers.
Now, it appears Dutch’s story may not be finished. According to reports from TheArnoldFans, who attended the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio over the weekend, Schwarzenegger indicated there could be more plans ahead for the character within the Predator universe, suggesting that the recent appearance might be more than just a brief cameo or Easter egg.
“They did an additional Predator and the director (Dan Trachtenberg) has been doing a great job of that,” Schwarzenegger told the fan site. “Now, he wants me to be in the next Predator. We’ve talked about it.”
He also says FOX is way into his return and has also been courting him: “As a matter of fact, FOX studios has kind of rediscovered ‘Arnold’. They’ve come to me and said, ‘We want you to do Predator, we just got a script for you to do Commando 2’.”
Director Dan Trachtenberg has overseen several recent entries in the Predator franchise, beginning with , a prequel set in the early 1700s that follows a young Comanche hunter facing a Predator. He later co-directed the animated anthology , which features Predator encounters across different historical periods, and directed , a theatrical installment centered on an exiled Predator seeking redemption.
