A sequel to ‘Alien: Romulus’ is on the way, and an exciting filmmaker is being eyed for the job that we can’t stay quiet about.
In space, no one can hear you scream. So, of course it makes sense that A Quiet Place: Day One director Michael Sarnoski is being eyed to direct a sequel to Alien: Romulus, reports Nexus Point News.
Perhaps best known for his work on the Nicolas Cage film, Pig, Sarnoski has proven himself a talented filmmaker. With A Quiet Place: Day One, he managed to open up the emotional core of the monster movie franchise, with a story that had fans tearing up multiple times. Consider me excited to see what he can accomplish in the realm of Alien…a series that’s often been pretty vicious towards its protagonists.
Originally created by filmmaker Ridley Scott, as well as writers Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett, the 1979 Alien remains one of the scariest horror films ever made. It’s a universe that continues to draw attention, with the series “Alien: Earth” arriving on Hulu last year (and renewed for a second season).
As for Alien: Romulus, the seventh film in the franchise was one of 2024’s highest grossing horror films. You just can’t keep a good xenomorph down.
Fede Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues wrote the script for Alien: Romulus 2.
Plot details for the sequel are still unknown at this time. But one thing’s for sure…if Sarnoski does land the job, expect him to deliver a tearjerker of an Alien movie.
Alien: Romulus stars Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson are expected to reprise their roles.
