Thailand’s Benetone Films and Fearfolks have set Pae Arak and Weir Sukollawat to lead the cast of Cher, an upcoming Thai horror epic currently in pre-production in Bangkok, reports Variety out of Filmart.
Cher centers on a police officer whose investigation into a vine-covered corpse found near a remote mining camp encroaching on sacred forestland brings him into conflict with his estranged brother’s secrets – and draws out rumors of a vengeful Thai forest spirit whose wrath may be connected to a mysterious young woman.
Arak is known for The Stone and In Youth We Trust, while Sukollawat previously starred in Bangkok Breaking and Home for Rent. The two actors recently shared the screen in the Thai action film 4 Tigers, which ranked among the top-grossing Thai releases of 2025, earning over THB102 million baht ($3.2 million) locally and holding the No. 1 spot at the box office for four consecutive weeks.
The script comes from Patrick Graham, the writer behind Netflix’s Indian horror series Ghoul and Betaal, with Songsak Mongkolthong (School Tales the Series, Graveyard Horror) attached to direct.
