The playable demo for Paranormal Activity: Threshold debuts at PAX East 2026 ahead of its upcoming PC release. Watch the first footage here.
DreadXP has announced that Paranormal Activity: Threshold, developed by The Mortuary Assistant creator Brian Clarke, will debut its first playable demo at PAX East 2026, running March 26 to 29 in Boston. Presented in partnership with Paramount Pictures, the demo marks the first time fans can step directly into the long-running found-footage franchise.
The game follows Daniel and Jessica Stewart, a couple documenting renovations in their new home. What begins as a routine remodel quickly spirals into something far more sinister as they uncover strange markings and hidden objects within the walls. As their recordings continue, it becomes clear they are not alone.
No release is confirmed, but the title is listed as coming soon. Watch the first footage of the game here:
Clarke’s previous title, The Mortuary Assistant, became a breakout indie horror hit in 2022, praised for its atmosphere and unpredictable scares. It was recently adapted into a successful horror movie with the help of Dread, Epic Pictures, and Shudder. With Threshold, he appears to be building on that foundation, translating the slow-burn dread of Paranormal Activity into an interactive experience.
First launched in 2007, the Paranormal Activity franchise remains a defining force in modern supernatural horror. This new game aims to bring that same tension to players firsthand.
Attendees can find the demo at the DreadXP booth on the PAX East show floor. The full game is slated for release on PC via Steam.
