The X-Files is one of the most iconic shows in television history, and Mulder and Scully may be even more iconic.
Now, Danielle Deadwyler has found her partner for Hulu’s The X-Files reboot, as Himesh Patel (pictured below; The Odyssey, Yesterday) is set to join Hulu’s reboot of the classic TV series, Deadline reports.
Insiders close to the show say Deadwyler and Patel will be playing new original characters in the series that hails from Sinners filmmaker Ryan Coogler, who is writing and directing the pilot for the new X-Files.
In it, two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents —played by Deadwyler and Patel — form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.
“We’ve had a few conversations,” Anderson said of Coogler to EW. “He’s such a cool guy, and so talented. And the pilot script is really good. I would say, have an open mind and give it a chance, because it’s gonna be f—ing cool. It really is.“
The show recently received a pilot greenlight at Hulu.
The show’s original showrunner, Chris Carter, will be a non-writing executive producer on the series. Sev Ohanian and Zinzi Coogler, who are Coogler’s partners at their Proximity Media banner, are also non-writing EPs on the show.
