‘The X-Files’ – Gillian Anderson Says Ryan Coogler’s Reboot is “F-ing Cool”
Gillian Anderson recently teased Ryan Coogler’s ‘X-Files’ reboot, calling the script “f-ing cool” and teasing something different.

Hulu’s reboot of the classic sci-fi series, “The X-Files“, continues to sound more and more intriguing. We confirmed last month that Ryan Coogler (Sinners) would be writing/directing the pilot episode. And now star of the original show, Gillian Anderson, has teased that audiences are in for a treat.
EW reports that Anderson appeared at Awesome Con, where she discussed Coogler’s new take. “We’ve had a few conversations,” said Anderson. “He’s such a cool guy, and so talented. And the pilot script is really good. I would say, have an open mind and give it a chance, because it’s gonna be f—ing cool. It really is.“
Anderson then added that the project is “different” and “special,” so fans should “give it a break.”
I’ve been a fan of Coogler’s hiring since the beginning, because I’m certain he’s going to bring something special to “The X-Files” universe. Hearing Anderson confirm it has me levitating into outer space.
Even cooler than that, though? The actress hasn’t ruled out having a role in the series. “At some point, if the phone rings and it’s good and it feels like the right time, perhaps.”
In the upcoming reboot, “Two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.”
Fox’s original series debuted in 1993 and ran for nine seasons and spawned two movies. The original show kicked off with Agent Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) being assigned to the paranormal division to help debunk true believer Agent Fox Mulder’s (David Duchovny) work.
We recently learned that Danielle Deadwyler (The Woman in the Yard, I Saw the TV Glow) has landed one of the two coveted starring roles in the series
The show’s original showrunner, Chris Carter, will be a non-writing executive producer on the series. Sev Ohanian and Zinzi Coogler, who are Coogler’s partners at their Proximity Media banner, are also non-writing EPs on the show.
Let’s hope that Coogler delivers Anderson a script she just can’t turn down. I believe.
