The Crypt Keeper Set to Chop It Up at this Year’s Overlook Film Festival
The Overlook Film Festival has announced that the Crypt Keeper himself will be joining the events, leading a parade and panel this April!

Good morning, boils and ghouls! This year’s edition of The Overlook Film Festival is already jam-packed with exciting features and events, and they’ve just announced another doozy that should have fans ready to scream. Announced today, Tales from the Crypt‘s Crypt Keeper will command the opening night second line parade as its grand marshal. Expect a deadly amount of puns.
John Kassir, the voice of the renowned Crypt Keeper, along with a special friend or two, will then join a panel to recount the show’s legacy. Because if at first you don’t succeed, die, die again! Perri Nemiroff (Collider) and Matt Donato (Daily Dead) are set to moderate.
“Firmly after the golden age of EC comics forever altered the genre landscape, and before it hit the silver screen, Tales from the Crypt became one of the most influential and important early cable television shows in horror history. Macabre stories, pulp effects, and heavy hitters galore in front of and behind the camera helped this show reinvent the way horror entered your homes and inspired generations of storytellers and fans before seemingly becoming lost to the age of streaming.”
I’ll always remember sitting in my parent’s basement, eight-years-young, and trembling in my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles jammies as Tales from the Crypt scared the living hell out of me. Good memories. The series influenced an entire generation of horror fans. And, despite a failed reboot here and there, still has a bony-handed hold on fans everywhere.
If you can make it, don’t miss your chance to see the Crypt Keeper live and in the flesh (er, bones). The panel takes place on Friday, April 10th. Get your tickets now.
