It’s no secret that New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. have already greenlit a prequel to Zach Cregger‘s smash hit horror Weapons, but today we’ve learned of its working title: Gladys.
Also, Cregger has brought in Zach Shields (Krampus, Godzilla vs. Kong, Godzilla: King of the Monsters) to help co-write the screenplay for the upcoming prequel, Deadline reports.
Of course, the title is in reference to the Weapons antagonist, Aunt Gladys, played by Amy Madigan, who would bring the horror genre home an Academy Award for her unbelievable performance.
Thankfully, it wasn’t a one-off, and we get to see Madigan slather on some lipstick and break a few twigs in a prequel, where she’ll be the film’s entire focus. Hence, more delicious lines like: “I can make your parents hurt themselves. I can make them hurt each other. I can make them eat each other if I want to.” Dying.
Cregger and Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee and Miri Yoon are returning to produce.
Weapons grossed over $270 million worldwide. As noted before, Amy Madigan won an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
