Hot off The Drama, Simon Rex has come on board Takashi Miike‘s (Audition, Ichi the Killer) untitled possession film, reports The InSneider.
In what is turning out to be a stacked cast for the legendary filmmaker’s next project, Rex joins Charli Xcx (The Moment, Faces of Death), Milly Alcock (Supergirl), Norman Reedus (“The Walking Dead”), Kiko Mizuhara (Ride or Die), Hailey Benton Gates (Challengers), and Show Kasamatsu (Tokyo Vice).
The untitled film follows three best friends who reunite in Kyoto and rekindle their lifelong friendship during what is intended to be a carefree girls’ trip. The getaway spirals into terror when Katie (Charli xcx) becomes possessed by a violent, tortured spirit (Mizuhara), unleashing a nightmare steeped in Japanese horror tradition.
It was written by Ross Evans and Yumiko Aoyagi.
Cameras have officially begun rolling on the film in Japan.
Live Nation Studios will serve as executive producer. Aidan Zamiri is also a producer. Xcx is producing through her studio365 banner. Misako Saka will produce on behalf of OLM, in conjunction with Live Nation Studios and Good World Productions. Michael Rapino and Kroft from Live Nation Studios, Youree Henley, Alex Peace-Power and Evans executive produce.
