Warner Bros. went horror crazy at the ongoing CinemaCon in Vegas, announcing a slew of new genre projects and dating several others.
In fact, they showed the crowd the very first trailer for Evil Dead Burn, which is expected to go online later this week.
Evil Dead Burn is a sequel to Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise and continues the universe-building Fede Alvarez started with his secretly canonized Evil Dead (2013).
Warner Bros. is all-in on the Evil Dead universe and has already fast-tracked Evil Dead Wrath, the third film in the new trilogy, which is currently in post after a long shoot in Auckland, New Zealand.
While Evil Dead Burn will be in theaters this coming July, Warner Bros. announced tonight that Evil Dead Wrath will open in theaters everywhere on April 7, 2028.
The upcoming film is written and directed by Francis Galluppi, best known for the 2023 thriller The Last Stop in Yuma County.
The ensemble includes Charlotte Hope (The Nun), Jessica McNamee (Mortal Kombat franchise), Zach Gilford (Midnight Mass), Josh Helman (Mad Max: Fury Road), Ella Newton (Dangerous Animals), Australian newcomer Ella Oliphant, and Elizabeth Cullen (Goolagong).
Longtime franchise producer Rob Tapert is producing alongside series creator Sam Raimi, with Romel Adam, Jose Cañas, and Lee Cronin (Evil Dead Rise) executive producing alongside Bruce Campbell, who has played Ash in various projects across the horror franchise.
Plot details remain under wraps, though the film is expected to introduce a new group of characters who find themselves confronted by the demonic forces unleashed by the Necronomicon.
It’s predocessor, Evil Dead Burn, opens in theaters .
