After its joyous CinemaCon presentation, Universal Pictures’ Violent Night 2 has officially been rated R for “strong/bloody violence, and language.”
Violent Night 2 brings David Harbour (Stranger Things) back as Santa Claus and Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters) to direct.
The big surprise out of the presentation was that Kristen Bell is playing none other than Mrs. Claus in the follow-up, being described as “Die Hard 2. Violent Harder,” where “Mrs. Claus shows up to help slay.”
The Violent Night 2 trailer was described as showing Santa (Harbour) losing his powers and working at a mall, facing attackers while rediscovering his spirit.
In Violent Night, a team of elite mercenaries breaks into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone inside hostage. But the team isn’t prepared for a surprise combatant: Santa Claus (Harbour) is on the grounds, and he’s about to show why this Nick is no saint.
John Leguizamo, Beverly D’Angelo (Christmas Vacation), Alex Haskell and Alexis Louder also starred in Violent Night, featured alongside Edi Patterson and Cam Gigandet.
87North and Universal will release Violent Night 2 in theaters December 4, 2026.
