Shudder has released a trailer for Indonesian horror film ‘Smothered’, executive produced by filmmaker Joko Anwar.
Norman Bates likes to say that a boy’s best friend is his mother. But in the trailer released today by Shudder for Indonesian horror film Smothered, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
After surviving a terrible accident, renowned micro painter Alif returns home with fractured memories. When an elderly woman appears claiming to be his mother, Alif embarks on a search for the truth uncovering a haunting legacy.
Described as a modern take on the famous Indonesian folktale “Malin Kundang”, the film is executive produced by my personal favorite Indonesian filmmaker, Joko Anwar (Satan’s Slaves).
Starring are Rio Dewanto, Faradina Mufti, Vonny Anggraini, Jordan Omar, Sulthan Hamonangan, Gambit Saifullah, Nova Eliza, and Tony Merle.
Kevin Rahardjo and Rafki Hidayat (Parasomnia) directed the film from a script by Aline Djayasukmana, Anwar and Hidayat.
Get Smothered by terror when the film lands on Shudder May 29th.
