Fun news this morning as Amy Madigan, Steve Buscemi and others have been cast in guest roles for Ryan Coogler’s ‘X-Files’ reboot!
Exciting news this morning, as Deadline shares the first major list of cast included in the “guest roles” of Ryan Coogler‘s reboot series of The X-Files, and it’s a doozy!
Here are the stars joining lead stars Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel:
- Amy Madigan (Weapons, Antlers)
- Steve Buscemi (Monsters, Inc., Boardwalk Empire)
- Ben Foster (30 Days of Night, Pandorum)
- Devery Jacobs (Blood Quantum, The Order)
- Lochlyn Munro (Freddy vs. Jason, Scary Movie)
- Tantoo Cardinal (The Last Manhunt, Legends of the Fall)
- Joel D. Montgrand (Finality of Dusk, Dark Winds)
- Sofia Grace Clifton (Rabbit Hole, The Marrow)
Talk about an incredible lineup of guest stars. I’m already hoping for Madigan to play a witchy villain after her award-winning turn in Weapons, while Buscemi could easily play a creepy weirdo or burnt-out detective. Whatever the case, I know Coogler is going to put them all in a position to succeed.
In the new take, two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents —played by Deadwyler and Patel — form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.
Coogler will write and direct the Hulu pilot.
The show’s original showrunner, Chris Carter, will be a non-writing executive producer on the series. Sev Ohanian and Zinzi Coogler, who are Coogler’s partners at their Proximity Media banner, are also non-writing EPs on the show.
X-Files star Gillian Anderson has said that Coogler’s reboot is “f-ing cool,” adding, “We’ve had a few conversations. He’s such a cool guy, and so talented. “
