Thai actress ‘Mim’ Rattanawadee Wongthong (Death Whisperer) has joined the cast of the upcoming supernatural horror film Cher alongside actors Pae Arak (The Stone) and Weir Sukollawat (Home for Rent), reports Deadline.
In Cher, Rattanawadee plays a vengeful spirit seeking revenge on those who wronged her in the past.
The story begins with the discovery of a vine-covered corpse near a remote mining camp, sparking rumors that a terrifying forest spirit has awakened to exact vengeance. A police officer is sent to investigate, only to clash with his estranged brother Joe, the camp’s hardened security chief. As miners begin turning up dead, Cher — a dazed young woman who is seductive, ravenous, and hungry for blood — emerges from the shadows.
Loosely based on the legends of the Nang Mai, Thailand’s mythical forest nymphs, the film is scripted by Patrick Graham, the writer behind Netflix horror series Ghoul and Betaal, based on a concept by Songsak Mongkolthong (Graveyard Horror), who is also attached to direct.
The film is produced by Bangkok-based Benetone Films and handled internationally by Fearfolks, which is launching pre-sales on the project at Cannes.
Rattanawadee has emerged as one of Thailand’s rising scream queens following appearances in all three films in the blockbuster Death Whisperer franchise, along with horror titles Panor and upcoming sequel Djinn’s Curse 2, notes the site.
Her co-stars Pae Arak and Weir Sukollawat recently appeared together in Thai action hit 4 Tigers, which ranked among Thailand’s top-grossing films of 2025, earning more than $3.2 million (THB102M) and holding the number one box office position for four consecutive weeks.
Cher is scheduled to begin shooting in the first quarter of 2027 ahead of a planned 2028 release.
